My article, titled “Potential Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Artistic Labour”, has been published in the Special Issue on Culture (Cultural Policies in the 21st Century) of Mülkiye Dergisi. Additionally, a review article introducing this work and outlining its scope has appeared in Tablet, the Technology and Public Administration Bulletin.
This article examines the transformations and challenges imposed on artistic labour by artificial intelligence, particularly in its “generative artificial intelligence” form, which has transitioned from the realm of science fiction to become an integral part of everyday life. While analysing the technological evolution of artificial intelligence, the study provides a comparative analysis of the current situation in Türkiye vis-à-vis the struggles for copyright, personality rights, and job security undertaken by artists in the USA. In light of the legal gaps and working conditions in Türkiye, the article offers various recommendations to manage the potential impact of artificial intelligence on artistic labour and to protect both art and artistic workers.
